Happy 4th of July

It’s the 4th of July … America’s Independence Day.

I live in Japan, so I haven’t done anything special on this day in years because July 4th isn’t a holiday here, of course.

But, if you’re in America, will you be going to a 花火大会 (fireworks show) ?

    Planning to go to my hometown, which has one of the biggest fireworks shows in Iowa. So bright, the streetlights turn off because their sensors think it’s daytime. Awesome stuff!

      Have you ever seen a fireworks show in Japan?

      Are you from Iowa?
      I’ve never been there. I don’t know much about that U.S. state … except that the heavy-metal band Slipknot are from there.
      Do you happen to be a Slipknot fan?

        I am originally from Iowa. The town where Buddy Holly died. That’s our claim to fame. I’m not a Slipknot fan, but I had no idea they were from Iowa.

        And no, we didn’t see any fireworks when we were in Japan. I don’t think there were any holidays going on while we were there.

        Not the town where Buddy Holly was born, but where he died?
        Isn’t there a happier thing your town is known for?

        Slipknot have an album titled “Iowa”… that’s why I can remember that they’re from there.

        And which cities in Japan?
