Metal by Uniqlo

20 Jul

Uniqlo is a Japanese clothing chain store that has expanded overseas.
I have some clothes from their stores. But I’m not sure how I feel about the T-shirts they’ve sold with heavy metal band logos such as AC/DC, Metallica and Aerosmith!

I have T-shirts from all of those bands from concerts I’ve attended. That’s where heavy metal T-shirts are supposed to be from: heavy metal concerts.

And that’s who are supposed to wear them: heavy metal fans.

Heavy metal is not a fad like pop music!

The best city in the world

10 Jul

Since 1995, “Travel & Leisure” magazine has done an annual survey of travelers to find the best city in the world for tourists.

And, for the second year in-a-row, Kyoto, Japan has been ranked the world’s best city.

Last May, my family and I went there again, (Click here to see my post and photos from that trip), and we agree – Kyoto is a very lovely city!

(This photo of geisha near Kinkaku-ji in Kyoto is from “allworldtowns.com”)

Personally though, I think that Tokyo is the best city in the world…but maybe that’s because I’ve lived here most of my life and I know my way around Tokyo very well. Either way, I can understand why Kyoto is so popular with tourists!

The Travel & Leisure top-ten cities for 2015 are:

1. Kyoto, Japan

2. Charleston, South Carolina

3. Siem Reap, Cambodia

4. Florence, Italy

5. Rome, Italy

6. Bangkok, Thailand

7. Krakow, Poland

8. Barcelona, Spain

9. Cape Town, South Africa

10. Jerusalem, Israel

(Click here to see a news article about the list).

What do you think about this list?
Have you ever been to Kyoto?

Women’s World Cup

6 Jul

The final match of the 2015 Women’s Soccer World Cup was played today.

It was Japan vs USA.

The USA won, so they are the 2015 Women’s World Cup champions!
Japan got silver (2nd place), and England won third place!

2015 Womens World Cup medal standings

おめでとうございます!(Congratulations!)

Coincidentally, in the previous Women’s World Cup (in 2011), the final match was played between Japan and America then too. Japan won that time.

America has a strong women’s soccer team. They currently hold the record for the most World Cup champions (three times), and they’re the only team that have been in the top three in every World Cup since the first one in 1991!
