Last weekend we went to the Tokyo Sky Tree.
(We didn’t go inside the tower. I have done that before).
The Sky Tree is illuminated at night in various colors every evening.
When we went it was lit up orange for the start of autumn.
We did go in the adjacent 「空町」 (“Sola-machi“) (lit. “Sky City“) shopping center.

Drinks in a traditional Japanese candy store.

Retro Japanese toys.

Japan’s “Hello Kitty” meets American rock band “KISS”.
From there, we walked to the nearby neighborhood of Asakusa.

「みくじ 百円」 (“Fortunes, ¥100”)
Nice post, this is becoming one of my favorite parts of Tokyo, specially during the cold season.

Do you go to the Tokyo Sky Tree often?

A few times, last year around Christmas it was really nice, the little village they set up with the hot mulled wine and soups were really wonderful. Hoping to go by there again this winter.

Have you ever gone to the top of the Sky Tree?

The tower looks really great with all the lights. Here in Europe any kind of tower is basically just some ugly massive concrete monster with some platform on top which might be a bit illuminated. The appearance of many cities I know could be so much improved by copying a bit the Asian style (at least in many Asian countries the cities are illuminated during night time with all kind of lights, especially on certain sights)

Yeah, the Tokyo skyline is really beautiful at night!
Europe’s towers are concrete? Sounds old-fashioned.
