U.S. President Obama was in Tokyo last week.
He had sushi dinner with Japanese Prime Minister Abё at the world-famous Sukiyabashi-Jiro Sushi in Ginza, Tokyo.
That restaurant in said to be the world’s best sushi … and the most expensive. A twenty-piece set costs ¥30,000 (about U.S.$300 ) .
And he could also meet Honda Corp.’s famous “Asimo” (pronounced “Ah-she-mo”) robot:
scmp.com had an article about Obama’s sushi visit that said: “The president would have had no menu to choose from because Ono selects the sushi he serves and will not take orders from his customers.”
Made me wonder who the most powerful person in the world really is! I think Jiro Ono just took over the title!

Yes, at places like Suskiyabashi-Jiro Sushi (unlike “cheap” sushi bars), customers trust the ‘master’ chef to give them the perfect meal.
It’s Japanese culture…not only at sushi restaurants. Expert artists, chefs, barbers, etc are often trusted to know best about their trade.

Do you know if this robot had an appearance in the final episode of Battlestar Galactica?

Asimo in Battlestar Galactica?
That’s the first time I’ve heard that. But I don’t know … I’ve never watched that show.

It’s possible it was Asimo. In the finale, the series ended in the present day, and they did a collage of present day robots. In fact I found a clip from it!

Actually almost all of those robots are in Japan! But I didn’t see Asimo among them.

Either way, those robots are cool! I liked the robotic musical band.

I remember when the one that looks (kinda) like a real woman was on the TV news a few years ago. She (It?) was made to do jobs such as “manning” information desks.
She (It) is kinda creepy looking!
