In Japan, a number of fast-food restaurants, including Burger King, have beer and other alcohol drinks on their menu.
And now, Starbucks Japan, at least at one location so far, have begun selling alcohol too.
A Starbucks in the trendy 下北沢 (Shimokitazawa) area of Tokyo have added beer and wine to their menu.
Another way that they are trying to separate from the usual Starbucks coffeeshop image is that the staff at that particular store will wear their own street clothes rather than the Starbucks uniform.
Waow beer seriously?! It may be speaking for japanese, but for me (and french people i think) it doesn’t lol

Isn’t beer popular in France?
If you prefer wine, they sell that too!

No, really?! Waow that some news lol… In France (I’m from Paris but i’m guessing) we’d rather drink beer in (english/irish/french) pubs. 🙂

Here, beer is drunk at home, in bars, 居酒屋 (Japanese pubs), at festivals, and at restaurants … even fast food.

How odd to want to order beer when going to Starbucks, just doesn’t make sense to me but ok. haha

I don’t go to Starbucks … but if I did, I’d rather have a beer than one of their over-sweet coffees!

suppose but then I’d just go to a bar. 😛

So would I. That or an izakaya. Especially since the beer at that Starbucks are priced at ¥650.
But if I was with someone who wanted to go into Starbucks, I would choose a beer over coffee.

Probably not me. I’ve only been inside a Starbucks twice. And there’s only one in all of Japan with beer, so far.
But I’m sure they will get many customers buying beer.

You should suggest it. Maybe they’d consider it!
