It’s a three-day-weekend in Japan.
Today is 敬老の日 (Respect For Elders Day).
Even though today is a holiday, we’re staying indoors … and if you’re in the Tokyo area, you should too!
Because a big typhoon is currently hitting eastern Japan!
Trains have stopped, bridges are closed, houses and cars have been torn up, some parts of Kanagawa had a black-out, Kyoto and the city of 小浜 (Obama) have been flooded.
(Speaking of the Japanese city with the same name as the U.S. president, I wrote a post here:

We’ve been hearing about the typhoon too. Stay safe. I’ll have to be especially nice to my mom. 🙂 Wait a minute. I’m an elder too! LOL

Thanks. The storm has passed and we’re all fine.
Even my pet turtle who’s house and pool are outdoors!

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that. Here’s hoping that the storm passes quickly. ❤

Thanks. The typhoon left Tokyo about fourteen hours ago … it’s a beautiful sunny morning now!
Clear blue skies.
But I was expecting that – – typhoons always blow the clouds away and the next day is clear and sunny.

During my stay in Japan in the early 50s, I experienced a major typhoon and numerous 4-5 level earthquakes. Both natural phenomena are particularly scary on the islands of Japan. I included my experiences in my award-winning book set during that time period: “Skivvy Girl: The Love of A Japanese Pleasure Girl” Available on Amazon/Kindle
By the way, I invite your readers to a You Tube that will make them want more and more of the same. It is called Sing Sing Sing and the music is played by Japanese teenagers. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=L7N6slVrQeY&vq=medium

Yes, earthquakes and typhoon aren’t fun.
Thanks. I’ll check out that YouTube video later.

“Typhoon 18”, as it’s called in Japan, has already passed the Fukushima, I believe.
And, I’m also pretty sure that it didn’t hit that area directly.

It is. Thank you. Gambarimashita! 😉

Not much happened here on base. Some wind and rain, a tree or two down. Hope all out in town and up in your area are ok.

The typhoon passed over Tokyo hours ago. It was windy and rainy here…but no damage.
Some other parts of Japan weren’t so lucky…train delays, closed roads, floods, blackouts, houses and cars torn apart, and an elderly woman has died.
