You don’t like cicada? They’re harmless!

I guess you wouldn’t like summer in Japan then!

its not a rational fear like a fear of vipers its just when i was young a (leaving out the expletive) huge one jumped at me and i was scared half to death.

its like a fear of the dark its not that the dark is gonna swallow you or anything its just forboding

Cicada aren’t seen often in America, are they? But every summer in Japan … their chirping is a sound of summer in Japan.

we do have the 17 year cicada that are the big mofo’s but we have smaller ones that do the grindy chirpy noise. its actually a very relaxing noise until it sounds like its coming from a bit too close

my cousin once threw one of their shells down my shirt. my parent thought i was having a seizure but i was just freaking out…

i dont know maybe it is like the dark but like most bugs im comfortable until they get too close

I have one “System Of A Down” CD … but I don’t know the music of any of those bands well.
And I don’t like punk rock much.

Wow! That’s great! I still remember when the 17 year cicada erupted from the ground in Illinois. The sound was deafening!

Yeah, I’ve heard that the cicada in America only emerge from the ground every seventeen years!
The TV news here said that this year (2013) is one such year…

That’s funny. So infrequently! I don’t recall every seeing (or hearing) cicada in America.

The cicada emerge every summer in Japan. Having lived here so long now…I can’t imagine summer without the cicada’s cry!
