In Japan, haunted houses and horror movies are popular in the summer.
Cool drinks, such as shaved ice and milkshakes, are also popular in summer in Japan.
So, starting next weekend, the Japanese fastfood chain, Lotteria, will sell a special ラムネ (Ramune) / chocolate milkshake that is supposedly inspired by the Japanese horror movie “The Ring”.
I was surprised that the price was reduced to half. They started selling it at half price since Aug 9, I think.

Maybe because the movie it’s promoting is already in theaters … and summer is ending.

I heard that the milkshake would be sold until around mid-Sept. So you still have a chance to try.

Maybe I will. If I remember the next time I’m near a Lotteria.

Out of curiosity, I looked up a Lotteria chain and went to buy the milkshake. The squiggly chocolate sauce topping kinda tasted strange but the milkshake was very filling.

So, did you like it?
I haven’t tried it yet.

Hubby helped me to finish the whole cup. The shake was Ok but not the chocolate sauce. Felt as if I ate crayons!

Well, if it’s not so good, maybe I won’t get one after all.

A milkshake named after a horror movie? I should think it would rob your appetite. I see a lot of Japanese tourists loving the Hawaiian shave ice.

In Japan, shaved ice goes with summer — at festivals, beaches, etc
