Passion Fruit Kit-Kat

3 Jun

The newest Kit-Kat flavor in Japan is 「オトナの甘さ パッションフルーツ」 (“Adult-taste sweetness Passion Fruit flavor“)*.

passion-katkat

Have you ever tried any of the numerous Kit-Kat flavors in Japan?

* (edit. Maybe this would be a better translation of the name.)

I just saw green tea and strawberry Kit Kat at the Don Quijote here in Hawaii. Sorry, but I think I’ll stick to chocolate.

Are there Japanese Don Quixote stores in Hawaii?

And they sell Japanese-style flavored Kit-Kats?

I tried the Passion Fruit flavor a week or 2 ago and I actually liked it! I wouldn’t eat it all the time but it was a good interesting flavor.
I also got a treat of purple Sweet Potato Kit Kat from Okinawa a few weeks ago. Those were more strange tasting but in a good way! I am always on the look out for unusual candies to send to my friends & family in the US!

Do you mail Japanese junkfood to America often?
      Isn’t that costly?

The packaging is quite appealing, in the graphics sense! I’ll never be able to try it though; cause as you know, I live in “The Land Of The Same Old-Same Old”… LOL!!

Are there any Japanese supermarkets in your neighborhood?
      They might have it.

Actually, oddly enough I just picked this up today. It’s ok, definitely not a favorite but not bad. Not overly sweet like so many candies are. Something tells me after trying it though that my body is probably not loving the sugar I just shoved down my throat in the form of a white-ish yellow Kit Kat baby sized bar.

You like to try various candy in Japan, don’t you?

Have you ever tried “real” traditional Japanese 和菓子 (snacks) ?

I’d try it just our of curiosity. I’m kind of obsessed with their KitKat flavors and wish they had they interesting ones over here. All we have here are white, dark and milk chocolate. Bor-ing!

Loved the green tea (which if funny, because in general I dislike green tea, but the KitKat was yummy) and the wasabi, and really like the plum and the red bean one. I kept trying to find the corn one, because it sounded intriguing, but I never found that one when we were over there.

        Oh, you’ve tried many!

Sometimes my kids buy various Kit-Kat … so I’ve tried some of them.
I thought the orange one was pretty good.

i actually really do enjoy passion fruit.

Well, to be honest, I won’t buy this … but it’s because I rarely eat sweets.

And, as for passion fruit … I can “take it or leave it”.

I was thinking about my translation of this flavor’s name…maybe it’s unclear.

Something like “Passion-fruit flavor, sweetened to adult taste” would be clearer.

Anyways, it’s “Passion fruit flavored” and it’s not as sweet…in an effort to target grown-ups.
