The Tokyo Sky Tree , the tallest tower in the world turned one year old today.
The Sky Tree opened to visitors on 2012 May 22nd…one year ago today.
I went up to the observation deck in the Tokyo Sky Tree on a clear day last January. I wrote a post about it with some photos that I took of the view.

Today is the first anniversary of the Tokyo Sky Tree‘s grand opening…but two days ago (Monday, 2013 May 2oth), another milestone was reached for the tower: Tokyo Sky Tree welcomed the 6.34 millionth visitor.
6.34 million visitors is a key number for the Sky Tree because the tower stands 634 meters tall. Officially the world’s tallest tower.
The height of 634 meters wasn’t chosen arbitrarily. In Japanese 6-3-4 can be pronounced 「ムサシ」 (mu-sa-shi)…and the Tokyo Sky Tree stands near an area that is referred to as 「武蔵の国」 (Musashi Region).
What do you think about giant skyscrapers and towers? What is the tallest one you’ve visited? Are there any near where you live?
this is on our list of things to see before we leave Japan. =) I’ve been up some tall towers, Sears Tower, Eiffel Tower, the space needle thingy in Vegas, a probably some others I can’t think of just now. I am rather bipolar about things like this, I like the amazement of the structure and the view and at the same time it can be a sort of eye sore to me, in a tree-hugger kinda way.

Have you seen the view from the top of any skyscrapers or towers in Japan … such as the Tokyo Natl. Govt. Bldg. or Tokyo Tower?
You don’t think that a city skyline with towers and skyscrapers looks beautiful?
I like towers, skyscrapers and bridges!
Where I grew up in Florida there were beautiful bridges but no towers or skyscrapers.
I love Tokyo’s skyline.

yes the views are amazing =) I loved looking out over Paris and Vegas. We haven’t been up any in Japan yet..YET! hehe
I hadn’t thought about it but you’re right there aren’t any in Florida really. I spent a few years near the Cape and in Jacksonville. All very flat, the bridges were definitely noteworthy…specially the one I was stuck on for hours trying to flee Floyd. lol

I grew up near Tampa Bay, Florida.
The Sunshine Skyway Bridge crossing the bay is quite nice.
And Florida has the Seven Mile Bridge connecting south Florida to the Keys.
>trying to flee Floyd
I suppose “Floyd” was a hurricane.
Yeah, Florida has many hurricanes and the traffic gets congested when people evacuate.
