Ichiro was traded to the Yankees

24 Jul

I’m not a big baseball fan but I have written a few baseball related posts…including two about Ichiro Suzuki.
( Click here to read the post I wrote about Ichiro playing baseball in Japan against Japan…and click here to read my post about Ichiro and the rest of the “Samurai Japan” team).

Even to someone (like me) who isn’t a baseball fan, it’s well-known that Ichiro was a member of the Seattle Mariners MLB team…but that’s no more.

Ichiro was just traded to the New York Yankees.

(Picture from the New York Yankees website).

And, in a bit of ironic fate, his first game as a player for the Yankees is today…against his former team, the Mariners!

I’m a lifelong Yankees fan. Over the years, my favorite teams feel like “family” to me… LOL! I guess any fan can say that when it comes to team loyalty.

My favorite football team is the 4 time Super Bowl Champions: The New York Giants.

Ichiro is certainly a future Hall Of Famer and I am very, very, very happy he is a New York Yankee!!

    I do like the Buccaneers logo… it’s… METAL \m/

Yeah, the Buccaneers’ current uniform is MUCH better than the one they had when I was growing up in Florida!

Why do you like New York teams? Aren’t you closer to Pittsburgh?
The Steelers have a cool uniform too … and their team was bad-ass in the 70s!

I lived for 40 years in Connecticut… so you’re either a Yankee or (gulp) Red Sox fan up there. (Mets fans exist in CT too, LOL!)

        Yeah, I’m in Pennsylvania now… I’ve become a “follower” of the Phillies…

Those 70’s Steelers were AMAZING! What an era of Steelers football! The Steelers have rediscovered their glory in recent years too.

Well, between the Yankees and Red Sox … I’d choose the Yankees too! 🙂

What a great player. He has distinguished himself in so many ways, I enjoy his approach to the game. But the Yankees…if there is evil in baseball, it is that team!

Which baseball team do you like?

If I had to chose a favorite baseball team…I’d chose the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in U.S. baseball since I grew up in that area–and the Tokyo Giants in Japanese baseball since I live in Tokyo.

I grew up a Baltimore Orioles fan back in their heyday. I’ve come to believe that the world will end on the day they next win the series.

        Are you from Baltimore, Maryland?
        Are you a baseball fan?

I like American football more. “My” team is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers“.

Yes and he is 38 years old. I wonder at what age he will retire.

With the amount of money that he gets to play, he’ll probably wait as long as possible to retire.

Yes, it is also in the sports news here in North America. He also got a hit (single) in his first at bat.

No, I didn’t watch the game. Yankees won 4-1 and Ichiro went 1 for 4.

I don’t watch baseball … so, sorry to say, I don’t know what “went 1 for 4” means.
