Big America is back

18 Dec

About two years ago, McDonalds Japan offered, for a limited-time, four original burgers that were collectively known as “Big America“.
Individually they were the “Texas Burger“, “New York Burger“, “California Burger” and the “Hawaiian Burger“.

Click here to read the post that I wrote about them.

Then, about one year ago, “Big America” returned to Japan with four new original burgers. These four were called “Big America 2” as a group.
They consisted of the “Texas 2 Burger“, “Idaho Burger“, “Miami Burger” and the “Manhattan Burger“.

The “Texas 2 Burger” and “Miami Burger” were, by far, the best of the eight “Big America” burgers, in my opinion.

Click here to read the post that I wrote about “Big America 2”.

And now McDonalds Japan is offering, for a limited time, the third set of “Big America” burgers.

The first one being offered is the “Grand Canyon Burger“. It’s available now at only two McDonalds locations in Tokyo…but it will available all over Japan from 2011 December 26 until 2012 January 4th.

Then, they’ll be selling the “Las Vegas Burger” starting in late January (2012).

Then, in mid-February (2012), the “Broadway Burger” will be on the menu.

And finally, starting in early March (2012), the “Beverly Hills Burger” will be available.

Some other limited-time menu items coming to McDonalds in Japan include:

"Blueberry Cream-cheese Pie" (starting 2012 Jan 4)

"Creamy Ranch" McNugget sauce (starting 2012 Jan 4)

"Maple Custard Pie" (starting early Feb 2012)

"Spicy Buffalo (Wing)" Chicken McNugget sauce (starting early Feb 2012)

"American-Cherry" Milkshake (starting early March 2012)

"Sweet and Sour" Chicken McNugget sauce (starting early 2012)

What unique menu items does McDonalds offer in your area?

A “burger with the lot” is really really good! I think they were just trying to be healthy with that recipe 😉 Most certainly cheese can/should be added!

      It sounds better that way!

Well, if you haven’t already tried the “Grand Canyon Burger”, it’s too late for that one…but now you can try the “Las Vegas Burger”.

The okonomiyaki I had was incredibly good, as I said before I’m a sucker for anything with an egg on top.

What country are you from? Do you have such kinds of food in your country?

I’m from America. I live in New Jersey but I don’t often see burgers with eggs on top.

New Jersey…I’ve never been there but I didn’t visit New York, which is near there.

When I hear “New Jersey”, I associate it with Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen.

        >I don’t often see burgers with eggs on top.

Yeah, I’ve never seen any type of hamburger in America except for the “basic” type.

In Australia we have what we call a “Burger with the lot” i.e. burger, tomatoe, lettuce, cheese, bacon, onion, beetroot and an egg. Delicious! http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/7137/aussie+beef+burger+with+the+lot

        >a “Burger with the lot”

I looked at the picture on the link you wrote…it’s such a big burger! I’ve never had a burger with pineapple and/or beets on it before!
        Is it really good?
It’s a burger with “the lot”…but it doesn’t seem to have cheese on it. I think that cheese is one of a burger’s “essential” toppings!

I had ramen in Shibuya, takoyaki and okonomiyaki on New Year’s eve at a temple, I ate at various Matsuya locations so that included curry, gyudon and spicy tofu.I ate some damn good soba noodles in Akiba. I tried different bento meals from Family Mart and various snacks from everywhere else. All the food was great, no complains

      >I had ramen

What kind of Ramen do you like? I like Tan-tan-men a lot.

      >New Year’s eve at a temple

Which temple did you go to on New Year’s Eve? Did you hear the temple bell get struck 108 times?

I honestly don’t remember the name of the ramen but here are pictures of the menu and what I ate, it was really good.

I went to Senso-ji temple in Asakusa for New Year’s Eve, but I didn’t hear the bell ring, I was too busy eating at all the food stands haha

If you like spicy food, you should try “Tan-tan-men” Ramen!

I just got back from Tokyo two days ago. I got to eat the Grand Canyon burger twice, once in Akiba and the last time in Narita airport. I ate the last burger on the 6th of January so I don’t know when that location would stop selling the burger.

Yeah, it seems that the McDonalds Japan website now says that the “Grand Canyon Burger” will be on the menu until late January (2012), then the “Las Vegas Burger” goes on sale.

Since you ate it twice, I assume you liked the “Grand Canyon Burger”.

I did! I love anything with eggs on top so I just had to at least try it, and it turned out to be delicious. I didn’t get to try any other fast food restaurants besides McDonald’s, but I did try many other types of foods

        >I love anything with eggs on top

Well, eggs are popular in Japan…so you can have egg on top of many things, not only hamburgers—such as curry, ramen, spaghetti, etc.

        >I did try many other types of foods

Did you eat much Japanese food? What did you especially like?

It will only be on McDonald’s menu here until later this month…then the “Las Vegas Burger” goes on sale.

I think the “Broadway Burger” looks the best of the four.
