Here are a few photos I took around Tokyo yesterday.
Public mailboxes in Japan are orange and have two slots. One for domestic mail and one for international.
But in late December, they’re changed…they become one slot for 「年賀状」 (New Years Postcards) and the other slot for all other mail.
Click here to read a post I wrote that explains a lot about New Years in Japan…including 「年賀状」 (New Years Postcards).

Until early January, the left slot is for 「年賀状」 (New Years Postcards) and the one on the right is for other mail.
Yesterday was 「天皇誕生日」 (the Emperor of Japan’s birthday). It’s a national holiday in Japan.
On Japanese national holidays many buildings such as post offices and 交番 (Police Boxes) display the 「日の丸」 (Japanese flag). It can also be seen on the front of city buses and along streets.
This panda reminded me of a sign I saw last March in Ueno about the panda that the zoo will be getting.

Also, I have a few posts about the many different flavors of Kit-Kat in Japan.

Well, I saw a store in 東京駅 (Tokyo train station) that sold many of the flavors.
I need to go and find that Kit Kat store in Tokyo Station. I’m addicted to collecting these fun flavors. 🙂

Which do you like best?

Wow, that store in the Tokyo Station. I overindulged when I visited Japan last year and bought one of each KitKat flavor they sold. 😀
Thanks for the pictures and memories. 🙂

You bought one of each? You must really like Kit-Kat?

I love unique opportunities to try something completely different.
I purchased 11 flavours. These are below with a quick rating.
It is really too bad that Kit-Kat does not expand their horizons and sell more flavours in other countries. Many people who tried these flavours really liked them.
Apple – 7.5/10
Bitter Almond – 7/10
Citrus Golden Blend (Chugoku-Shikoku Limited) – 9/10
Intense Roast Soybean (Tokyo Limited) – 6.5/10
Matcha Green Tea – 7.5/10
Purple Sweet Potato (Okinawa-Kyushu Limited) – 7.5/10
Raspberry (Framboise) – 10/10
Sakura Matcha Green Tea – 8/10
Soy Sauce (Tokyo Limited) – 8.5/10
Strawberry Cheesecake (Yokohama Limited) – 9.5/10
Sweet Potato (Kawagoe Limited) – 9/10

Me, too. I don’t sweets often…but I like to try different foods.

Japan has many more than eleven flavors of Kit-Kat. 😉

So you liked the “Raspberry” and the “Strawberry Cheesecake” flavors the most?

I don’t much candy so I’m not real sure. There are flavors of M&Ms, I believe.
Many Japanese chocolates come in varieties of flavors.
There are many flavors of Pepsi-Cola in Japan:
