In the summer of 1985 one of the greatest movies made was released.
“Back To The Future” hit the theaters when I was fifteen years old…close to the age of the lead character in the movie played by Michael J. Fox.
I’m of the generation of the ’80s (often called “Generation X”), so watching a movie about a teenager of the ’80s* going back thirty years (from 1985) to 1955 and experiencing a type of “culture shock” was fun to watch…at least pulled off by the excellent actors Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Crispin Glover it was.
(*Actually Michael J. Fox is nine years older than me. He wasn’t a teenager in 1985…but twenty-four years old.)
Anyways, it’s hard to believe that the first “Back To The Future” movie is already twenty-five years old!
They could make a remake of “Back To The Future” about a kid of today’s generation going back to 1985 and it could probably have just as many “generation gap” gags.
To celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of “Back To The Future“, Universal Studios is releasing the entire “Back To The Future” trilogy together in one-set on high-definition Blu-Ray discs on 2010 October 26.
This new set will contain over two hours of bonus material including sixteen deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes footage and βTales from the Future,β a new six-part retrospective documentary.

And it seems that the “Scream Awards” (which recognizes the best horror, sci-fi and fantasy movies) honored the 25th anniversary of “Back To The Future” a few days ago with a reunion of the cast.

Back to the Future is my all time favourite movie. I often wonder what the remake (because you KNOW, SOMEONE is going to try to remake it) will be like. It is going to be so hard to make a BTTF that will even come close to the original movie.

Yes, Back To The Future is a great movie. Many old movies are being “remade” these days…but there are a number that I’m surprised haven’t been remade.
For example:
JAWS, E.T. (I surprised there wasn’t even a sequel to this movie ever made), and Indiana Jones.

I absolutely love Back to the Future. My favorite has always been Christopher Lloyd’s character, “Doc” I can never get bored watching all 3 movies. I was a child of the 80s too π

Christopher Lloyd is an excellent actor and his “Doctor Brown” character is “Back To The Future” is great…but all of the characters in that movie are great: Marty McFly, George McFly, Principal Skinner, Biff Tannen, et al.

I was your age when “Back To The Future” was a new movie.
As I said in this post, I think they should film a re-make of Back To The Future with someone of your generation going back to 1985. I think it would be fun to watch.

I’m not really a fan of sci-fi.
I like Star Wars…but I don’t enjoy movies like Tron, Blade Runner, Lord Of The Rings, Dune, 2001, etc.
Other movies that were popular but I hated include Lost In Translation, Forrest Gump, and anything directed by Stanley Kubrick.

Aw man, no Scifi? oh well, I love sci-fi, like Stargate, Lord of the rings, and other things. I don’t know what to think of Forrest Gump for I have only seen parts of it, I have never even ehard of Lost In Translation

You’re lucky. Don’t bother with it if you find it.
It’s a dull, slow-paced movie about a couple of lonely Americans in Tokyo.
I was interested because it’s a Hollywood movie filmed in Tokyo…but it’s painfully boring!
A better movie with a similar theme is “Ramen Girl”.

What would be cool is if they made part 4, instead of a re-make, and just picked up where they left off. Like, Doc came back in the flying train and took Marty back to 1885 to help change Mad Dog into a good guy by bringing him to 1985 and showing him his history – or something…. lol..

Personally I don’t think another sequel would do so well.
And if they did make one, they’d have to find a different actor to play “Marty McFly“.
Michael J. Fox has become to old to play the part of a high-school kid…and he’s not acting anymore anyways (due to his Parkinson’s Disease).
I think that in five years (in 2015), they should make a “new” Back To The Future.
The original had a kid go back thirty years from 1985…in 2015, they could make a new version with a kid going back thirty years to 1985.

I just found out that, by chance, yesterday (2010 October 22) was Christopher Lloyd’s 72nd birthday. (He’s the actor the played Emmett “Doc” Brown in the “Back To The Future” movies).
