Start of Spring

12 Apr

Every year at the beginning of spring and again at the beginning of autumn, when the seasons are changing the weather  fluctuates from day-to-day.

Yesterday, in Tokyo it was very warm and sunny (22° Celcius (about 72°F)).

But today it’s raining and much cooler. The high temperature in Tokyo today is only 11°C (about 52°F).

And then tomorrow it’s forecast to go back up to 22°C again!

The rest of this week high temperature will range from 10 – 18°C (50-64°F)…and rain some days and it’ll sunny on the others.

Weather in April (and October) is unpredictable.

Weather forecast for 2010 April 12-19 in Tokyo, Japan

How’s the weather at this time of year in your part of the world?

Yes, nice and sunny today like Sunday, but very cold, windy (broke my cheapo umbrella) and rainy yesterday in Tokyo as you said. This is rather crazy weather … I hate to check what the weather will be like tomorrow.

      >broke my cheapo umbrella

You gotta hold them facing into the wind. 😉

      >I hate to check what the weather will be like tomorrow.

Tomorrow will still be sunny but a bit cooler…but the following two days it’ll be cold and rainy again. 😦
According to the weather forecast from a couple days ago, at least.

      You live in Arizona…right?

I’ve never been there but my image of it is a very arid desert that’s always very warm.

      The “mid 80s(F)” = high 20’s / low 30s Celsius.

It’s so warm there and it’s only early April…summer must get very hot!

      Is it ever cold there?

As I said above, I don’t particularly like extremely cold or hot weather…but I enjoy having four different seasons.

It does actually get fairly cold here in Phoenix in the winter. We can get down to just above freezing at night, but are usually in the mid- to upper-50’s during the day.

As for how hot it can get during the summer… I’ve seen 117 but I understand the hottest day on record was 122.

        >freezing at night…mid- to upper-50’s (55°F = 13°C) during the day.

I guess since it’s an arid desert with low humidity, the temperature drops significantly when the sun goes down.

Japan, like Florida (where I grew up), is very humid. I think I like that better…even though the summers get sweltering, it doesn’t suddenly become cold at night.

        >I’ve seen 117 F (47°C) but I understand the hottest day on record was 122 F (50°C).

That sounds dangerously hot…but I guess without the high humidity it probably doesn’t feel any different than summer here.
It gets up to around 35°C (95°F)…but the humidity makes it feel even hotter!

I think my weather is the same as yours, considering I live in Kamakura.

no it does not. In the summer, the temperature ranges from the 70s to the 80s, which means I turn on the air conditioners.

In Tokyo, the temperature can get up to 32°C (90°F).

In winter, down to 0°C (32°F).

Most of spring is very mild. And in autumn, it’s comfortable too…with the leaves changed colors.

Very different from Florida (where I grew up)…I like having four very different seasons here in Tokyo.

Is that the temperature there in Hawaii now?

It’s 10-22°C (50-72°F) in Tokyo this week. So, “60’s – 70’s°F” isn’t “rather cool” for this time of year to me…but “rather warm” 😉

In Hawaii, does the temperature fluctuate greatly in late March / April like it does here?
