“American Quarter Pounder” or “World Whopper”

15 Mar

I wrote about McDonalds Japan‘s “Big America” Quarter-Pounder burger campaign.

They offered the “Big Texas Burger“, then the “New York Burger“, and then the “Hawaiian Burger“. Now they’re offering the final one…the “California Burger“.

Well, to compete, Burger King Japan is selling four different 「世界の美味しさとてつまなくデカイ!ワッパー」 (“World’s Delicious Giant Whoppers“).

Rather than a different flavor burger for four different U.S. states, like McDonalds Japan is selling, Burger King Japan‘s new “Whoppers” are four different flavors from four countries.

From 2010 February 1 – 18, they sold the “American flavor 「バーベキューワッパー」 (“BBQ Whopper“),
and then from 2010 February 19 – March 4, they sold the “Malaysian flavor” 「ブラックペッパーワッパー」 (“Black Pepper Whopper“).
Currently they are selling the 「スパイシーイタリアンワッパー」 (“Spicy Italian Whopper“).
And the final one will be the “Japanese flavor” 「てりやきワッパー」 (“Teriyaki Whopper“), which will be offered beginning 2010 March 19.

Burger King Japan has had unique Whopper burgers before…

How, exactly, do they put out an ad with “Sold Out” on it? Was it an internet ad (and they really update them quickly enough to legitimately let people know they are sold out) or did they discontinue those burgers?

Each of the four burgers was only offered for a limited-time. When I wrote this post they had just finished offering the third one (the ad in this post is from when the third burger was on the menu).

“Sold out” isn’t actually the correct phrase. But they meant that the time that those two burgers were available has passed.

I had the Teriyaki Whopper today! It was really good! I like McD’s Teriyaki Burger, but I think the Whopper one is better.

I don’t usually like BK burgers, so I was surprised that it was so tasty!

Yeah, that Teriyaki Whopper looks good.
I wanted to try the “Italian” one though…but didn’t get around to it on time.

Don’t you like Burger King? I think they’re good…just too expensive for the amount of food.

Teriyaki burger sounds really good. Is it a sauce they put on it? I’d eat it… As long as it was that sauce and the meat only.

      >Is it a sauce they put on it?

      Yes.

Teriyaki Burger is a regular menu item at McDonalds Japan.

      The meat is pork though.

        >Pork? I like pork!

Me, too. But a “beef” hamburger is better, I think.

You should come to Tokyo and try a Teriyaki Burger!

I had forgotten about those green St. Patricks milkshakes at McDonalds in America until I read your post.

If someone mailed them overseas, I bet they poured them into a Thermos container or something first…I doubt those paper fast-food cups could hold a drink through the mail.
