In Tokyo right now, until the end of August, is the biggest Gundam robot ever made.
I wrote a post about it (Click here to see it).
Well, from 2009年8月31日(月) ~ 2009年11月30日(月) (Monday, August 31 – Monday, November 30 (2009)), 日清カップ・ヌードル (Nissin Cup Noodles) will give away the smallest Gundam figures ever made.
Just like the giant 18 meter tall Gundam robot in お台場 (Odaiba, Tokyo), these figures that come in the top of the noodle package are in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Gundam‘s debut.
Only 1000 of this red and white figure will be made (making this one the most valuable):
500 yen per cup? So much for the idea of “Nisshin giving away” the figures. That’s more of a mark-up than for the Dragonball/Coke/Lawson’s figures ($3 for 2 bottles at Lawson’s compared to $2 for just the 2 bottles and no figure at Summit. Granted, it’s still $3 for 2 bottles at Lawson’s if you don’t get the figure…)

Yeah. I was surprised. Usually those types of things are given away with the product.
Well, I’m sure they’ll sell many even with the inflated price.

Just as a follow up, I did buy one yesterday, similar to the one shown in the photo above (but with a blue chest instead of red). I’ve tried looking around at Lawson, Family Mart, etc., and I’ve only seen them at 7-11.
They’re sold in kit form, and you have to cut the pieces off the frames and assemble them just like any other plastic model. I haven’t taken mine out of the package yet.

Well, 7-11‘s where I saw it, too.
Personally, I won’t be buying it. I generally don’t buy “Cup Noodles” at the regular price…so I certainly don’t need them at inflated prices.

Where did you see it?

In a 7-11. But I imagine that you can find them anywhere that sells Cup Noodles.
I didn’t buy one. The price has been marked up to about ¥500!
