I’ve written an earlier post (click here to read it), Japan has many types of 「パチンコ」 (pachinko) machines.

「パチンコ」 (pachinko) is often called “Japanese pinball”…and like pinball machines, 「パチンコ」 (pachinko) machines are decorated with pictures of famous people or characters.
In Japan, there are Spiderman, JAWS, Marilyn Monroe, 「ウルトラマン」 (Ultraman), and 「七人の侍」 ( The Seven Samurai) 「パチンコ」 (pachinko) machines.
That’s just an example. There are many others.
There’s even a 「パチンコ」 (pachinko) machine for the Japanese pop singer 「倖田來未」 (Koda Kumi):

Now there’s a new 「パチンコ」 (pachinko) machine. And it’s also decorated with images from American pop-culture.
It’s the Bon-Jovi 「パチンコ」 (pachinko) machine. It plays some songs by the band and has cartoon images in their likeness.

There are three left, and I don’t think any of them are doing very well. I had my previous store in a mall on the edge of the neighborhood that was built by Yaohan. A Korean group took over with the intent of completely changing the place from Japanese to Korean, and only succeeded in changing the market. They didn’t realize the place was ailing so bad, so everything else ground to a halt.
Another place had ambitions of bringing in a Coffee Bean, but so far they haven’t done much.
The general thought is that this place has five years left, tops.

I’m in Dallas, Texas (USA) I haven’t bought one yet, but I did find some old non-digital pachinko machines for $50 or less. I think I’m waiting for the right one, though. It’s more of a decorative piece, so I want something that fits the room. 🙂

A zen theme pachinko?
I’ll let you know if I ever see such a thing…but I can’t image it. A Pachinko parlor is kinda the anti-thesis of zen! 🙂

I really, really want a pachinko machine for my office. There are sites that sell them for around $250. (http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=pachinko&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wf) Is this a reasonable price? And do you know where I can get a better deal or better selection?

I guess US $250 is fair. I saw a “Star Wars” one on that link for US $1800!

No – that’s quite expensive for older machines, if that’s what you are after. Check eBay under ‘pachinko’ for the best prices (and maybe a closer delivery for you?).

I wouldnt mind tryin out the Marilyn Monroe pachinko and Seven Samurai pachinko, also Ultraman Pachinko (for my lil nephew) But Bon Jovi pachinko ..no thanks ^_^

Yeah, I guess I’m the same.
I don’t really care for their songs that are popular for some reason (such as “Livin’ On A Prayer“)…I prefer their songs like “It’s My Life“.
The first time I heard Bon Jovi was when their second album (“7200° Fahrenheit“) was new.
My friend had the 45RPM record (7” vinyl single) for the song “In And Out Of Love“…I thought they were a heavier band than they are.
