東京五

24 May

I discovered that I’m not the only “Tokyo Five“.

But I’m the only one that’s actually in Tokyo.

There seems to be an Australian pop band who call themselves “Tokyo Five“.
Not only are they not from Tokyo…but there’s only four members in the band!

Their MySpace page is here.

Then there’s also an American clothing company named “Tokyo Five“!

On the top of my blog here, I write my blog’s name in Japanese as 「トーキョー・ファイブ」 which says “Tokyo Five“. The clothing company writes their name in Japanese as 「東京五」, which are the kanji characters for Tokyo and five…but they are kinda odd together.

Maybe I should buy one of their shirts, and use it to advertise my blog. 😉

Their website is here.

As I wrote in my About Me page, I live in Tokyo with my wife and our three kids. So, we’re a family of five in Tokyo…that’s where the name of my blog, my YouTube page, and my main website came from…I wonder if that Australian band and that American clothing company got their name from my site!?

Hey man, I’m in the T5 band! Googling ourselves uncovered your site and the clothing company (ready-made merchandise I guess?). We’ve been around for a while, long before joining myspaz in ’06. The origins of our name have been lost in the mists of time, but at one stage there may have actually been more than four members. We play about one gig every four years. None in Japan so far, so don’t fret about us stealing your thunder. We’ll send you a CD if we ever make another one ;P

      Thanks for commenting.

I was surprised to see your band and that clothing company with the same name as my blog!

You only play once every four years? So, your band is more of a hobby, then?

In this post above, I wrote:

The banner on my blog currently isn’t written in Japanese katakana, but it was when I wrote this post. I have since changed blog templates.

Yeah, “Beaming For Bunnies” and “In 10 Words” are easy to remember and may be in need of trademarking. I do like superfluous “™” symbols!

Oh, and I just me a laptop for a college graduation gift. I now have a program on Firefox that lets me translate the kanji on this page! American Ingenuity strikes again! 🙂

      >I now have a program on Firefox that lets me translate the kanji on this page!

I already put the English translation in parenthesis after all the Japanese I write on my site.

      >American Ingenuity strikes again!

Is it really “Made In America“? Maybe it’s made in Japan.

So what does the program say for this:

      「今から日本語を勉強するですか?」

It says “How to Learn Japanese Now?” Yeah, the exact program is Babelfish, it’s probably 85% acccurate lol.
