For the second year in a row, Food & Wine magazine voted Tokyo as the Best Food City in the World.
Japanese chefs are dictating the world’s dining trends with their fierce devotion to seasonality and respect for aesthetics.

I agree! Tokyo has more restaurants than any other city in the world…whatever you want to eat, you can find it here.
And eating out in restaurants in Tokyo is a real pleasure, because no matter which restaurant you choose…the prices are reasonable, the service is excellent (with no tipping in Japan), and the food is prepared perfectly!
The Top Five cities in the world for the best food, according to Food & Wine magazine:
- Tokyo, Japan
- Barcelona, Spain
- Copenhagen, Denmark
- London, England
- New York City, America
I love eating in Tokyo. Never had a bad meal there. Everything taste better in Japan. I also like that the price on the menu is the price you pay, and the service is great 99% of the time. I ate so much on my trip there.

Yeah, we took a holiday in Florida a few years ago…and after a few days we all began to miss the food in Japan.

London was in the Top 5 last year, as well.
I’ve never been there so I have no idea how good the food is there.
Have you been to London? Didn’t you like their food?

Ive been to London a couple of times now. I know their pub grub is the best but apart from that I dont know ..ive been to one or two restaurants or cafes and I was not one to rate some of the service we received when we were there. Going to a Pub I can guarantee good food and I suppose thats where the good ol’ traditional London food is from.

Yes, there’s no tipping done in Japan. Not just restaurants…also hotel staff, taxis, barbers, etc too.

I think the latest Michelin guide also had Tokyo with the most number of highly rated restaurants (3 stars) in the world.

Yes, Tokyo had the most Michelin stars in both 2008 and 2009.
