My daughters have final exams at school next week, so they’ve been studying hard these days.
So, my wife decided to go out today together and let them stay home alone to study.
We didn’t go far nor for long. My wife prepared lunch for the four of us (my youngest isn’t home…she’s currently on a ski-trip in 新潟 (Niigata). Click here to read about that.), we ate lunch together…then we left them to study. We were back before dinner.
We went on a bicycle ride to a nearby park and had a beer together and talked for awhile.
There were a number of trees with 寒桜 (Kanzakura)…which is a type of Sakura cherry-blossom that blooms in colder weather (earlier than other cherry-blossoms):

Mine is 「ハエトリグザ」 (Venus Flytrap). Is that a flower? No?
OK, then, I’d say my favorite is 桜 (Sakura cherry blossoms).

Hi Everyone! My favorite flowers are cherry blossoms, roses and magnolias. It sounds like you both had a nice date together while the girls studied. that was making good use of the time. I hope they did good on their tests, and I am sure they all got high marks. That is so cool that the youngest went on a ski trip w/ friends! I would love to see her ski. Mary, it is so good to hear from you! I hope your plans for the day care come true soon, then you might have more time, maybe! and when are you and Frank going to tie the knot? Mb, sorry I missed your phone call. I have been sick with a bad stomach bug. we got a bad first snow storm here last night too. of course our winters are nothing like the northeast has had, thank goodness! love you all.

Cherry blossoms and roses are quite different.
桜 (Cherry blossoms) are fragile and are gone not long after blooming…バラ (Roses) are strong and durable (and have thorns!).
桜 (Cherry blossoms) are important to Japanese because they represent the fragility of life and how short it is.
バラ (Roses) are popular in America…maybe because of how unfragile they are.

I’m an Asian who has been studying in the U.S for one and a half years. I have some closed friends in the college. However, sometimes I feel pissed off when they call me Asian guy. I”ve heard that the eastern Japan was so cold last weekend. But I can know from your beautiful photos that the spring is coming near!

I’d worked at the flower shop for 5 years, so I know many kinds of flower that are more fancier than teppou yuri but after all I like simple flowers. 水仙 smells so nise!

Last weekend was cold in Tokyo…but the weekend before that was unusually warm…then it got real cold.
It’s cold and rainy today…but yesterday (when we went to the park) was a nice day.
Did you work in a 花屋 (flower shop)? You must love flowers. My wife and daughters like flowers alot…actually when we went to Florida five years ago, they were expecting to see many flowers (because Florida is Spanish for flowery)…but they were disappointed—there are more flowers in Tokyo than Florida!

I am watching the movie The Hunted with Christopher Lambert and John Lone. It’s about a western business man traveling in Japan when he gets caught in feud between Ninjas and Samurais.
I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out. This movie is how I discovered the Japanese percussion group KODO.
Anyway, I thought of you.

Nice pictures–very pretty. Sounds like a fun day! My favorite flower is a daffodil, so I liked the pictures of those. In my class, we had a Venus Fly Trap as a ‘class pet’, but sadly, it died. They’re really hard to care for!
