寒い

20 Nov

The weather here in Tokyo is getting cold! It was a nice, blue sky today…but chilly!

Winter’s coming!

Stores and shopping streets having their Christmas decorations up, and many parts of the city have started their Xmas illuminations (taking a date to see xmas illuminations is popular in Japan).

How’s the weather now where you live?

In Japan, when the weather gets cold, it’s popular to say 「寒くなるので体に気をつけて」 (“It’s getting cold so take care (not to get sick)”).

    I love cold weather 🙂
In Shiga we get lots of snow and every morning we have to shovel the snow to make a way to get the car out:p
And then we have to dig our cars out …
When I was in Japan last time in winter, the snow was about 30cm~40cm, not too much. But when I was little it used to snow about few meters, I could touch the snow from up-stair window.

    I don’t like cold weather!

It doesn’t snow much in Tokyo. Usually just a little with one or two heavy snow days each season.

Up in northern Japan, people have snow shovels…but in Tokyo noone really has a snow shovel, so on days that it snows everyone in the neighborhood comes out with dust pans and chips in moving the snow.
    That’s Japan! 🙂

I don’t mind the cold, it’s snow I’m not a big fan of.
Actually, that doesn’t bother me after it’s been shoveled.
I hate shoveling snow is the point I’m trying to get at here…

    Sir Pent…

    >It is WAY too cold for how early in the winter season it is here in the Chicago area. It’s not even December and we already had a day with a high of 29 degrees (Fahrenheit). Awful!

    The high temperature is 29°F ? That’s about -1.7°C ! Too cold!
In Tokyo, right now, the temperature is normal for late November…high: about 13°C (about 55° F), low: about 9° C (about 48° F). That’s cold enough for me!

In late February, it normally gets down to about 4°C (39° F) in Tokyo.

    ++++

    >Here is very hot, yesterday was over 30 (° C) again and sunshine was so bright, I couldn’t open my eyes!

That’s funny that it’s so hot there in late November! Australia has summer when most countries have winter!
(BTW, for American visitors who aren’t used to Celcius…30° C is about 86° F).

    >My friend told me that there was a snow in Japan already.

Up north. In 青森県 (Aomori), 北海道 (Hokkaido), etc.

    >It must be very cold

As I wrote above, Tokyo’s down to about 9° C now.

    >I like winter:)

Not me! To me, 春 (Spring) and 夏 (Summer) are best!
