Yesterday I went up the Tokyo Sky Tree.

634 meters tall … the tallest tower in the world!
First of all, the elevators move at 600 meters per minute! But they’re so smooth, I could hardly feel them move!
The sky was clear, blue and sunny … so I could clearly see Mt. Fuji, Tokyo Tower, Shinjuku, Tokyo Disneyland, the Tokyo Dome…all of Tokyo and beyond!

The shadow of Tokyo Sky Tree

Makes the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Center pale in comparison. And that was still a pretty awesome view!
Yes, the Tokyo Government Building observatory has a great view of Tokyo … and it’s free!
But the Sky Tree is much better.
Next time I’m in Tokyo, I’ll definitely check it out.
How often do you visit Japan?
So far only the one time, but the daughter wants to go back for an exchange program when she’s a junior or senior, so hopefully we’ll be back at some point in the next few years.
Is your daughter going to attend a Japanese high school?
Is she in high school now?
She’s in high school now and taking Japanese. She’s a freshman (first year).
Does she speak Japanese well?
Spectacular! What a beautiful, clear day. It must have been very impressive!
Thanks for commenting!
Yes, it was a wonderful view.
You should come to Tokyo and see it!
Awesome! I can’t wait to return to Tokyo.
When did you visit Tokyo before?
And do you have plans to visit again?
My Japanese friends think that the Tokyo Tower ‘s illuminations are prettier than Skytree’s. What do you think?
Many Japanese people like the Tokyo Tower better than the Tokyo Sky Tree because it’s smaller and they like an underdog, and it’s older and they like nostalgia.
I understand those feelings but I like the Sky Tree better.
Not only the illumination … but I also like the Sky Tree’s color and design better … it’s cooler!
Silver is nicer than orange … and the Sky Tree is an original, modern design – Tokyo Tower is designed after France’s Eiffiel Tower.
And … the Tokyo Tower is in uptown Tokyo but the Sky Tree is in a “blue collar” area.
