Anyways, would you like to see some pictures of our pet turtle?
I think she’s cute.

What kind of pet do you have?

      Is that a parakeet (セキセイインコ)?

My wife and I spend summers at a cabin atop a mountain in Virginia. Every year a tiny (less than two-inch) Eastern Brown Bad shows up at the cabin about the same time as we do. During the day, he (we think) hangs (upside down, of course) from a spot beneath the eave just outside our kitchen. When we speak to the fuzzy little guy, he cocks an eye open for a few seconds, and then goes back to sleep until dark when he attacks flying insects. He’s fuzzy, ugly and certainly not a pet in the strictest sense–no petting here! But, we’d be very disappointed if he didn’t show up every year.

      What’s an “Eastern Brown Bad”?

      >we’d be very disappointed if he didn’t show up every year.

      Almost like a pet. ;)

      >Hi, your pet turtle is very cute! what is her/his name?

Thanks. Her name is 「ルンルン」 (“Roon-Roon“)…hard to explain, but it’s kinda a play on words from a Japanese cartoon character.

      >what is the little white sac hanging from her side

It’s fat. In the summer she eats a lot because she hibernates in the winter.

Whoa… those are some “hits” your blog gets! Congrats. We have a family member named Toby… he is a cat that will turn 3 years old this Fall. The only thing is, Toby “thinks” he is a dog. Every mannerism that a dog has, Toby has. He even tries to bark, the poor dude.

That turtle is cute… for a turtle. Is that a breed that can live up to 150 years? Or more?

A cat that thinks it’s a dog!? I’d like to see that.

My turtle is an Asian breed that has a life expectancy of about 30 years.

It’s tortoises, I believe, that outlive humans.

Wow, nice turtle, I am currently baby-sitting my friend’s tortise (I don’t think that is how it is spelled) and it walks all over the backyard, I also have a fish tank, I have had many hampsters, but I haven’t gotten a new one, I want a dog though

      Thanks.

      >What kind of turtle is she??

クサガメ (Japanese Pond Turtle). A very calm, friendly turtle species.

      >I have 2 turtles and they are the cutest turtles in the world

They are cute. I was surprised you named one of them the Japanese word for “turtle”…”Ka-me-chan“—cute name.

She is really cute…you make me want to have one. I bet Kame and Kroten won’t mind having a new sister ;)

My students think it was weird to name both turtle as turtle in other languages…glad you think it’s cute.
